Athletes across the Isle of Wight have been saddened to learn that next year’s Island Games in Guernsey has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The International Island Games Association (IIGA) confirmed yesterday (Saturday) that the decision had been taken not to continue with the event in 2021.
Over 3,000 people from 23 different locations were expected to attend the Island Games 2021.
The Guernsey staging of the international sporting event – for the first time since 2003 – will now take place at a later date, which is to be confirmed. Currently, the next planned Island Games is in Orkney in 2023.
