Isaac Farnbank has announced his intention to contest the Conservative Nomination for the soon-to-be-created parliamentary constituency of Isle of Wight East.
Born and educated on the Island, Isaac is approaching the final stage of his university studies at King’s College London and is a Director and Trustee of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
In a statement, he asked Islanders:
“At this juncture, consider what we seek from a second Island MP. Is it merely to elect a second representative, to complement the work already being creditably achieved and duplicate the efforts already made? Or are we going to grasp this moment for what I see it to be: a unique opportunity to ambitiously transform expectations, our hopes, and our desires for this Island?
“Having grown up on the Island, I’m passionate about meaningfully tackling the issues we all experience and which shackle our potential.
“We need to aim higher, not just in our discourse, but in our very way of thinking about how best to achieve a more prosperous, fairer, and sustainable Island; not solely in what we seek to achieve, but how we go about leading the progress for which we all yearn. That’s why I have outlined an ambitious and coherent vision for the constituency, ahead of any selection proceedings.
“After consulting widely amongst colleagues and friends, I am persuaded that I could be the energetic, capable, committed Conservative Island candidate with a fresh approach that will complement and build on the sterling achievements of Bob Seely MP.
“My candidacy widens and diversifies the field, granting a real, meaningful choice in this key selection”.
In announcing his intentions, Isaac also published a 19-page manifesto for the constituency entitled The Wight Way Forward. His proposed policies include creating enterprise zones for Ryde and other seaside towns, trialling an education voucher scheme on the Island and aspiring to an Island grammar, returning the Ryde to Portsmouth catamaran to the jurisdiction of the South Western Rail franchise and transferring all Island ferry ports to Trust Port or municipal ownership, creating an Island regional airport and backing an Island Park designation.

Oh, don’t make me laugh.
Does anyone seriously think a child who nobody in Parliament will listen to, and will always vote how his party bosses tell him to, would make a good MP for the Island?
I suppose he will be in opposition, so the damage he could do will be minimal.
what another Tory Idiot, who doesn’t know the real world. Great….
Sorry to say ,but with the present government. And the present MP .I will be voting anything but Conservative. Unless they bring back Boris
Why did you spoil it with your last sentence?
Bozo Johnson is a traitor. He lies by default and threw the entire country under a bus (A big red one with £350 million a week for the NHS written on the side) for his own political and financial gain.
Should be locked up.
tackling the issues we all experience and which shackle our potential.
I doubt that living at home with mum, or at student halls of residence exposes him to any of the issues that the majority face- that being, having enough money to buy food, electric, gas and pay the rent/mortgage. Or having to deal with an endless stream of BS from the receptionists at the Dr’s about an appointment or wondering why the so called teacher at your childs school is teaching them about gender, before learning to read/write and count.
and the laughably naive idea of taking the currently privately owned ferries into public ownership shows his ignorance. Who will pay the astronomical amount to the current owners to take it from them
Don’t pay the current owners – just take it from them.
gandalf, you are an idiot – you do not permit the theft of private property and assets by the state without compensation. That is the thin end of a wedge and something that should never, ever happen in the uk – otherwise, where does it stop – your house, because they want it to house deadbeat spongers.
So long as he places yellow lines outside Great Preston rd council houses, adds ballast to Island cars to stop them overturning, bans all enrichment be they from the mainland or further afield, bans any more houses being built on green fields, puts a curfew on anyone under the age of 65 venturing out after dark, and enforces butt plugs for dogs in public places he will do better than Steve Ross.
Bob Seely isn’t fit to wipe Steve Ross’ arse.
not a chance….
a. if he continues to speak / write as he did in his statement, a lot of people won’t understand WTF he’s saying (or will at least stop listenting after the first few words)
b. if he thinks that half-sausage Bob has made ‘sterling achievements’ ,… well he must be referring to Pounds Stirling of personal gain… as he’s done SFA else for the Island
(I’m sure this wannabe hankers to be just as corrupt as the rest of the Tories)
Don’t have a problem with his age or ambition. But why choose Conservative as your party? – this is not the party of a better future and clever young people should know that.
He lost my vote simply by “bigging up” the moron Seeley, not that I would have voted anyway. My time is too valuable to me to waste it on voting for liars of any political persuasion. We all know by now that voting for people never gets us what we need.
We all know that voting for people rarely gets us what we need.
It is not voting that never gets us what we need. Usually the complete opposite, in fact. In 2019 Seely got 56% of the vote, but 33% couldn’t be arsed to get off their backsides and draw an X in a box so Seely got elected by only 37% of those eligible to vote.
If you don’t vote you will never get what you need and will, more than likely, get landed with what other people want.
I disagree, and you only have to look at our own council to see why. Whenever people put themselves forward in an election they lie. They say they will do whatever you want them to do to get you to vote for them, then do nothing but line their own pockets once they are “in”. I know you don’t like the Tories, and blame them for everything, what I don’t understand is why you think it would be any different under any other party. Surely by now you should be able to see that they are all as bad as one another. Politicians are pathological liars, only interested in themselves. The days of a caring politician ended decades ago.
The one thing we do know is that a vote for the Tories is a vote for more of the same.
Worse. If this lot get re-elected in 2025 after the complete and utter destruction they have wrought over what will be 15 years, if they last that long, they will be so emboldened that they will believe they can do anything and get away with anything.
Sometimes a change is needed to demonstrate there are limits to the self-serving pocket lining.
and replace with what exactly – more self serving pocket lining by labour or the liberals – they are no better. They just hike taxes more than the tories and have worse policies.
My point exactly. Voting is just a waste of your own good time.
We need to aim higher, not just in our discourse, but in our very way of thinking about how best to achieve a more prosperous, fairer, and sustainable Island.
lofty ideals Isaac, however, a few observations –
the vast majority of society never, ever use the word “discourse” – a bad choice of word that alienates you.to achieve a more prosperous island, you cut taxes, cut the demands on workers and destroy the appeal of living on benefits, by cutting them to the bone, so people actually support theirselves.to achieve a fairer and sustainable society, you ensure that spongers and leeches are denied any free housing, free money and free food, whilst giving more back to those that work and contribute to society
All good until he turned out to be Conservative so not my vote, any other party -maybe . Boris should join Labour and Labour would win next election he’s only idiot that seemed interested in the country and others, not appearing to be stuck up and upper class. He was odd but rubbed off on you – like Marmite you either hatted or loved. Issac change party and you could be in luck.
There is only one thing Bozo is interested in, and that is Bozo Johnson.
His only interest in the country is how much money he can make by politically stripmining its idiot and gulible voters.
Here’s a thought Isaac, when you leave your lovely cushy university course I suggest you leave home, open a simple bank account with no overdraft or credit facility, then tell mummy and daddy NOT to give you a penny for the next 10 years. Find a job.. NOT a job from your ‘friends’ but a REAL job, 40 hours a week of actual graft.. then work your way up the ladder to a place you think you already belong and PERHAPS you might know what the hell you are talking about. Until you get a REAL life you will just be another entitled Tory rich kid with neither brains or gumption enough to make any decisions for we mere plebs, but willing to keep your friends in nice earners, influence and power.
Couldn’t have put it better!
If he promises to only eat half a sausage at BBQs and other social events, he has my vote!
I’d like to see Jed Dwight run instead.
Hilarious reading the comments on here .all blaming tories for your miserable lives . Good luck to the lad we need ambitious young conservatives to get this country back on track . But we need Boris back first to steer the ship .
Bozo has already had a go at steering the ship.
That is why we ended up on the rocks.
‘Hope you recover well after the lobotomy which you’ve obviously had!
Pray we have more than these 2 conservatives applying for the Island elections.
Sorry Posh boy. You are so out of touch and you are the last thing the Island needs. This has to be the best opportunity in years for a good honest Independent candidate to stand for the Island and push Islanders concerns.
No more housing until we have the infrastructure to accommodate. St Marys cant cope with 130 k population as it is. No Dentists, a railway that has had more of its fare share of problems and two ferry company’s who need to be punished for unreliability. We need high street parking charges reduced to put some life back into our high streets, and a review of planning. Lets be honest Sandown is a tip. Look at the difference in Ventnor in the last ten years, It can be done. I really hope for a decent Independent candidate
out of school and desperate to get his nose in the trough for an easy £80,000 a year for doing nothing, most of his “ideas” are batsh*t crazy.
Seriously? Spotty Tory Boy? They’ve no chance of him winning so this is a great move by the conservative scum, a shot to their own foot. Who in their right mind would vote for such a young yes boy, with zero life experience, and an already skewed view of the world.
Well done, you’ve just handed victory to another candidate… anything but conservative.
I’ll be voting for whoever represents Labour.I’ve had enough of this sleeze/micky mouse ess government.
Another Toron. Please don’t vote for this imbecile
To be honest I don’t understand why our little island needs two MPS ???????
One is expensive enough ….
By all means go forward young man but live life first , ,,,,,
Grow and when you have more life experience who knows ?????
Will he be a ‘Tim, nice but dim’ or an ‘Alan Bas’tard’??
alan b’stard more likely
All aboard the gravy train destination House of Crook’s
