A prisoner found with a ligature around his neck died in hospital from hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, an inquest opening has heard.
51-year-old Anhar Miah was found hanging at HMP Isle of Wight last month, resulting in a large-scale prison response – and an emergency response from both the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Miah was freed from the ligature and CPR commenced, with the serving prisoner then rushed across the road to St Mary’s Hospital.
He was later transferred to the intensive care unit, but died at 12:15 on 19th August.
A post mortem conducted last Thursday (28th August) recorded a cause of death of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (oxygen starvation), brought about by an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest as a result of hanging.
The inquest has been adjourned.

Bye bye pedo , you did the right thing . Hope your victim can sleep a little easier now .
why did they rush him to st mary’s – they should have sat back, waited until the pedo was dead and just got the undertakers in for the crematorium. No inquest needed – one less pervert is better
‘Oh dear how sad what a great loss from this parasite.
Where does it say that he was a pedo? However this is one less to waste our taxes on.
