Independent Arts welcomed artists, guests and supporters to their Creative Hub last Wednesday (15th September) to celebrate the conclusion of their summer-long touring exhibition ‘Looking Out From Lockdown’.
Those who took part in the exhibition were invited along to the showcase evening at the charity’s High Street gallery and workshop space in Newport to view the exhibition in full and to enjoy performances from musician Butterfly Culture, as well as poets Ben Homes and Chrissie Saunders.
Chrissie said of the evening;
“It certainly was a great evening, we very much enjoyed it as I think everyone else did – there was a real buzz around the Creative Hub. I appreciated the opportunity to be involved and read some of my poetry”
The exhibition has previously been on show at various venues around the Isle of Wight, including Ventnor Fringe Festival, Monkton Arts and The Freshwater Coffee House, ensuring it was accessible to as many visitors as possible throughout the summer.
All the participating artists were presented with certificates of achievement from Lord-Lieutenant Susie Sheldon, with whom the exhibition has been in partnership with.
For those who have yet to visit and see the varied display of pieces that makes up the exhibition, featuring work submitted by children right through to professional Island artists, it can be viewed for free at Independent Arts Creative Hub (48/49 High Street, Newport) until 9th October.
