After extensive restoration work, Appley Tower is welcoming the public through the door once again. The essential repairs, that began in November 2023, have been completed, safeguarding the future of the iconic landmark on Ryde seafront. The project has been run by Natural Enterprise, with funding from the National Heritage Fund, Ryde Town Council, Isle of Wight Council and Natural Enterprise. For the first time since 2015, the community will have regular, free access into Appley Tower. The new internal staircase leads to the rooftop, where unrivalled views of Appley Beach and the Solent may be enjoyed. Tenants, Monkton Arts, are offering artists the chance to show their work in the gallery space on the first floor, alongside lots of other exciting opportunities. The first exhibition, telling the story of Appley Tower, runs until Sunday 18th August. Those who have been involved in the Appley Tower Heritage Project gathered to celebrate its reopening.
Brian Friend, Chairman, Natural Enterprise said:
“We have been working with partners since 2018 to arrive at this point. We are delighted Appley Tower is now fully restored and will be returned to community use. “I’m pleased Natural Enterprise has led this work, and we have accomplished what we set out to achieve. “Our thanks are extended to all the people who have supported us and have helped to make it happen. A real success story.”

Shame they couldn’t refurbish the toilets at appley
If and when they they do, they will charge you 50p. Sad that it’s come to this for a P
What the ones that always stink
Shame on you Ryde Town Council, if you can find the funds for this , why couldn’t you fund the children’s water splash park, which would have been far more use to a wider audience, but just now sits as unused eyesore.
Appley Tower is an iconic building, beautiful and absolutely well worth renovating, a kiddies water splash park is not. The sea is across the road, plenty of splashing to be done there?
There speaks a childless/grow up children person who needs to get intouch with island life.
Remember tourism and families keep the island afloat….not beautiful relics x!
Appley Tower ok done. Water park needs attention now. NOW
