UPDATED: The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for ice across the Isle of Wight overnight and into tomorrow morning (Friday).
Ice is expected to form on untreated surfaces throughout this evening and will last into Friday morning. In addition, some outbreaks of sleet and snow are expected which may give local accumulations of 1-2cm and add to icy conditions in places.
The warning is in place from 00:05 until 11:00 on Friday. In addition, a weather warning for snow is in place until 23:55 today.
Motorists are being warned of the risk of disruption with difficult driving conditions and expect longer journey times.
UPDATE @ 12:37 – Island Roads have confirmed they will be gritting the Island’s road network from 15:00, with a second salt run to follow afterwards.
