Network Ryde, Ryde Town Council’s youth service held their annual Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday (25th September) and raised hundreds of pounds in the process.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, last year’s coffee morning could not go ahead so Network Ryde pulled out all the stops to make sure this one was extra special. There was lots of baked goods made and donated by young people, staff, and friends of Network Ryde.
There was a steady flow of people throughout the day as members of the public were visiting the Youth Centre along with parents, young people, councillors who were all there to support Network Ryde and Macmillan.
A group of young people who access Network Ryde were there for the duration of the day helping out, washing up, waiting tables, taking orders and leafleting/spreading the word around town.
Some young people who baked for the coffee morning also used their bakes towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as they have baking and cooking down for their skill section.
After a busy day with lots of donations, Network Ryde raised an amazing £317 for Macmillan Cancer Support! This is a fantastic achievement for Macmillan and has also raised the awareness of Network Ryde and the services they offer, supporting the Island’s young people.
