Ambulance crews have this evening (Sunday) attended to a Hovercraft pilot in Ryde who is reported to have been taken seriously ill whilst on board the craft.
The Hovertravel employee was in charge of the hovercraft on its journey between Southsea and Ryde, however once landed at the Ryde pad the gentleman was taken ill and the assistance of paramedics was requested.
Eye witnesses have told Island Echo that the pilot was ‘unconscious’.
The cross-Solent company have advised of delays to its service due to unforeseen circumstances. Ice lollies and water were handed out to waiting passengers earlier on.
