Hovertravel have cancelled a number of crossings between Ryde and Southsea tomorrow morning (Thursday) due to technical issues.
The 16:45 Hover from Southsea is said to have experienced an engine breakdown which led to a shuttle service being put into operation this afternoon.
‘Island Flyer’ – one of the new Hovercraft brought into service last year – is understood to have come to a halt at the bottom of Ryde slipway. She had to be pulled up the pad by machine due to an appearent failure of the starboard engine.
Hovertravel have now announced that the 07:30, 08:00 and 08:30 crossings from Ryde and the 07:45, 08:15 and 08:45 crossings from Southsea have all been cancelled.
It is unknown at this stage if any other crossings will be cancelled.
