Firefighters from Ryde, Newport and Shanklin have successfully tackled a house fire at a property in Sandown this morning (Thursday).
Crews were called to the scene on The Fairway at around 11:30 following reports from a postman of smoke billowing from the window of a first floor bedroom, prompting the three appliance turnout.
Upon arrival of fire crews, it was discovered that a saucepan, which was left on a stove, was at blame. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and extinguished the fire using a hose reel.
Crews left the scene at just before midday.
No one has been injured in the incident.
