Fears of a house fire on a residential road in Ryde have sparked an emergency response by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service tonight (Saturday).
2 appliances from the town’s fire station are currently on scene at Osborne Road following an alarming 999 call by concerned residents reporting both a strong smell and visible smoke blowing across the road.
The alarm was raised at around 23:15.
Thankfully, initial investigations have revealed the source of the smoke to be from a garden incinerator to the rear of a neighbouring property.
Crews – already donned in breathing apparatus – are standing by as final checks are conducted.
