The ladies of Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club took to the fairways for their annual Hospice Day on Tuesday 17th August.
As is customary, men were invited to join in the fun and, given fair weather, battle was joined in a Texas Scramble.
The winning team, with a score of 60.3, comprised of Ladies’ Captain Hazel Smith, Pearl Robertson, Jane Wilson and David Ames. Runners-up on 61.7 were Angela Lassey, Christine O’Brien, Joyce Petrie and Shawn Ford (Club Captain).
Through entry fees, a raffle and donations an amazing £1,300 was raised for Mountbatten Hospice.
The day before, on Monday 16th August, 15 past captains and one soon to be ladies’ captain took part in this 9 hole greensome stableford competition.
A lunch at the club followed, during which the ladies were joined by more past captains including Yvonne Wood, Angie Linington and Judy Richardson – captains in 1988, 1997 and 2004 respectively. In fact, it was Yvonne Wood who instigated the competition during her tenure.
The winners on countback with 19 points were Chris Ellis and Jane Wilson (a past ladies’ captain at Osborne) and the runners-up were Jenny Domoney and Anne Corby.
