EXCLUSIVE: A much-loved horse has been put to sleep this afternoon after falling in a field, despite the best efforts of the Isle of Wight Fire Service and the owners to assist the animal.
Two fire appliances and a specialist animal rescue unit were tasked to land off of Lushington Villas in Wootton at 12:30 this lunchtime, however after two-hours of battling to assist ‘Damzil’ to her feet, a local vet decided that the best option was to put the horse to sleep to save suffering.
Island Echo understands that the animal was old and had underlying leg problems.
