Isle of Wight schoolgirls Holly Stephan and Sienna Brennan will have plenty to tell their classmates today having taken a very special lap of honour at Fratton Park on Saturday.
The girls made tracks to the home of Portsmouth FC at the weekend as part of the winning Pompey In the Community (ITC) Under 13s development squad. Earlier this month the team secured victory in the Hampshire Youth Cup having thrashed Pace Youth at the Front Lawn Academy, Havant by 8 goals to nil.
Some fantastic passing and attacking during the match on 9th March saw the Under 13s team go 3-0 up by the end of the first half. They had kept a clean sheet throughout the cup so the pressure was on to keep their excellent record. During the second half the girls played some absolutely amazing football, scoring another 5 goals and conceding none.
Both Holly and Sienna travel across the Solent twice a week to train and compete in matches for Pompey, whilst also training on the Island with Andy North. Pompey in the Community’s girls’ development squads compete in the Hampshire Girls Youth League on Saturdays alongside an EFL and Premier League Club Trusts fixture programme.
In celebration of their Cup win, the whole team were invited to complete a lap of honour at Fratton Park on Saturday before the club’s League 1 match against Scunthorpe kicked off. They also got to meet the players and were then were invited to watch the match with family and the coaching staff.
