58-year-old Andrew Collins, who was convicted of exposing himself in front of 2 women at a local holiday park back in 2022, has appeared before magistrates again after breaching the notification requirements of the Sex Offender’s Register.
Collins, now of High Street Sandown, admitted possession of cannabis and failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offender’s Register when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 26th November.
It was back in July 2022 that Collins was handed a 2-year community order after he intentionally exposed himself to 2 women at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park.
Collins – who had consumed several cans of Stella Artois – was seen in the window of his caravan wearing nothing but a pair of sunglasses.
As part of his conviction, he was added to the Sex Offenders’ Register and given a requirement to notify Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary of any new address he stays at for a certain amount of time.
The court heard how on 31st August, Police attended an industrial unit on Embankment Road, Bembridge, noticing a strong smell of cannabis upon entry to the premises.
Inside a small amount of cut and dried cannabis was found. Officers initially thought that Collins may have been producing and cultivating at the premises but there was no evidence to suggest such activity was taking place.
During their inquiries, officers also found that Collins had been staying at the address on weekends, but that he hadn’t notified Police.
Defending, Michael McGoldrick told the court that Collins was staying in Bembridge at the weekends to get ease the relationship between himself and his father at his main address.
The case has been adjourned until 7th March 2025 so a pre-sentence report can be compiled.
