Firefighters from Newport, Freshwater and Ventnor are tackling a hay fire in the West Wight this afternoon (Sunday).
2 pumping appliances and a water carrier are in attendance off Cranmore Avenue, Ningwood where a large amount of hay has caught alight.
Plumes of smoke can be seen from miles around as firefighters continue to tackle the blaze on the site of West Wight Skips.
The incident began around 16:00.
2 main jets and 2 hose reel jets are in operation, with water being pulled from a hydrant and from the attending water carrier.
An area approximately 18x10m is affected.
