Nearly 7-months after it was severely damaged by fire, Gurnard’s The Portland Inn is set to reopen tonight (Saturday).
The popular public house, located on Worsley Road in Gurnard, is set to reopen at 17:00. To mark the occasion, live music will be provided by Just Morgan.
It was in the early hours of 25th March that firefighters from Newport, Ryde, East Cowes, Sandown and Shanklin tackled a tumble dryer fire that spread to the rear and upper floors of the building.
The inside of the pub was severely damaged.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service remained on scene for several hours damping down the scene. 2 people were treated at the scene for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Since the fire, Mark, Kim and the team have been working hard to get the pub back up and running. Now the time has come to reopen the pub to the public.
