A St Helens man who was caught drug driving by Police outside the Ryde’s Tesco supermarket will learn his fate next month.
Ricky Chester, 48, of Carpenters Road, admitted drug driving when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (15th April).
Giles Fletcher, prosecuting, told the court that on 12th November, at around 11:00 in the morning, officers stopped a Toyota Rav-4 at Tesco Extra in Ryde.
The driver of the vehicle – Chester – was asked to exit the vehicle and conduct a roadside drugs wipe. The test concluded that Chester had illegal substances – namely benzoylecgonine – in his system. Readings of cannabis and diazepam were also found in Chester’s system although these were below the limit readings.
Defending the 48-year-old, who is a man of previous good character, Michael McGoldrick, told the court that several things in Chester’s personal life were impacting him at the time of the incident and that he was mixing with the ‘wrong crowd’.
Magistrates opted to adjourn the case until 30th May to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled.
Chester was handed an interim driving ban.
I am fed up reading excuses, there are plenty of
people in the world going through tough times and
many of them have a good character.
But we all know drink or drug driving is wrong.
At 48 years of age there are no excuses.
OMG 48 years old, mixing with the wrong crowd grow up you should know better???
48 years of age there are no excuses, needs to grown up
and act his age.
It’s simply that he hasn’t been caught before now. Previous good character my armpit.
They all come out with that ballsh*t
MOT expired 9th Jan 25
