Despite an improving forecast, gritters will once again be deployed across the Isle of Wight tonight (Wednesday) and again in the early hours of Thursday morning. The fleet of gritters will leave the Island Roads Stag Lane depot at 20:00 tonight to complete a full salting run. A 2nd run will commence at 04:00 tomorrow morning. It is the 4th day in a row that gritters have been deployed in a bid to keep the Island’s roads free of ice. But there is positive news on the horizon as by the weekend the overnight lows will be around 5-7c – a stark contrast to the -7.6c recorded in Sandown on Monday night.
