Gritters will be deployed across the Isle of Wight’s road network from 15:00 this afternoon (Thursday) as cold weather continues to bite the Island. The fleet of gritters will leave the Island Roads Stag Lane depot at 15:00, with a 2nd full salting run planned for 04:00 tomorrow morning. It is the 5th day in a row that gritters have been deployed in a bid to keep the Island’s roads free of ice. But there is positive news on the horizon as by the weekend the overnight lows will be around 5-7c – a stark contrast to the -7.6c recorded in Sandown on Monday night. Motorists are being advised to take additional care wherever they are on the network.
