With the easing of coronavirus restrictions, Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club has wasted no time in ‘tee-ing off’, as sporting facilities can once again open their doors.
Under the socially distanced but watchful eye of Club Professional Peter Hammond, at 7.30 on Monday (29th March), Club Captain Shawn Ford took to the tee and launched the first of many drives that were taken at the Club that day.
Although having assured his partners that he had not practiced his swing at all during the lockdown, his drive was somewhat impressive.
The tee booking system came into its own as Shawn and his party was followed by golfer after golfer all keen to get back to their sport. A total of 187 tee slots were booked on the day. And, to cap it all, the sun shone.
Throughout lockdown, the Greenkeepers had worked exhaustively to ensure that, when golf returned, the members had a course to be proud of. And all agreed, it was mission accomplished.

Welcome back all golfers to a great club
