EMERGENCY CLOSURE

REOPENED: FRESHWATER ROAD TO BE CLOSED THIS WEDNESDAY EVENING

Avenue Road / High Street, Freshwater will be closed this evening (Wednesday), from its junction with Princes Road for a distance of 32 metres while Southern Water carries out emergency works. 

The advised diversion route will be Colwell Road, Hill Lane, Pixley Hill, Copse Lane & Hooke Hill.

The diversion route will be signed at the time of closure.

Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.

Temporary revocation of one-way:

Avenue Road: The Isle of Wight Council will temporarily revoke the one-way restriction along the High Street, Freshwater from its junction with Avenue Road to its junction with School Green Road.

High Street: The Isle of Wight Council will temporarily revoke the one-way restriction in A3055 Avenue Road, Freshwater from its junction with Princes Road for a distance of approximately 32metres.

The revocation is necessary to allow access to residences and businesses whilst utility works are carried out.

Island Roads has advised the order shall come into operation at 18:00.

UPDATE @ 22:00 – Avenue Road is now open to traffic according to DTM – the one-way system will also be reverted back to normal now the road is open.
