Freshwater Bay Golf Club was awarded the Arthur Butt Shield at the recent Isle of Wight Senior Golf Alliance AGM and dinner. The club picked up the shield for gaining the most points during 2023 with members of the Senior Alliance securing 100 points for the West Wight club. Ryde Golf Club secured 2nd place with 65 points. Outgoing Captain, Bob Ventress, presented the shield to Freshwater Bay Golf Club’s representative, Mark Vallely. Individual trophies won by Freshwater Bay included:
- Porter Cup – Al Richard
- Selby Trophy – Crispin Keith
- Barton Salvers – Mark Debuse and Andy Morris
- Ludin Cup – Joan Martin and Chris Sprackling
At the Senior Golf Alliance’s AGM, held on Monday 11th March, a number of other awards were handed out for the 2023 season. John Blow, the incoming Captain, presented the individual Trophies, assisted by David Poore, Treasurer.
