A Freshwater man caught in possession of prohibited images of a child will learn his fate at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court in May.
Jacques Barton, 23, of Hooke Close in Freshwater, admitted 3x making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child and a single count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.
Prosecuting, Giles Fletcher told the court that Police visited Barton’s house after his IP address was flagged.
Investigating officers found that Barton had made 18x Category A images, 5x Category B images, and 14x Category C images. Officers also found 17 prohibited images in Barton’s possession.
The court heard how the 23-year-old made full admissions in interview.
Defending, Oscar Vincent told the court that Barton deserved credit for his timely plea of guilt and that his case was one that would benefit greatly from the compilation of a pre-sentence report.
Barton’s case was adjourned until 16th May when he will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court for sentencing.
Deserved credit for being a nonce? What a f…… stupid statement by his defence Oscar Vincent, hope you don’t have children cos maybe if you do and one of your kids was one of the photos he had you would think differently, you moron. Castrate these disgusting things then Lock them away as they are dangerous they start looking at pics then who knows what? Need a pic of this thing so people are aware of it???
The credit the lawyer is claining is or an early guilty plea. If defendants plead guilty it avoid the need for a trial. This saves court time, saves witnesses having to appear and victims from the trauma of having to give evidence in some instances. The quid pro quo is that those who enter an early guilty plea have their sentence discounted by up to a third. It has nothing to do with the nature of the charge but rather is a standard sentencing provision.
Very well put, Marcus but I fear your elegant elucidation of the salient facts will have fallen on very deaf ears. Especially when considering her nom de plume. Unless it is used in irony, of course.
so it’s nonce after nonce after nonce!!!it seems on this island , is it a island thing ???
This sicko should be sentenced in Crown Court, NOT magistrates court. Obviously not going to get a proper custodial sentence. About time the pathetic justice system in this country was overhauled
