School Green Road in Freshwater has been closed today (Friday) to allow Southern Water to carry out emergency repair works to a burst 7″ main.

The road has been closed between the junction of Pump Mews to its junction with Afton Road/Hooke Hill mini-roundabout for a distance of 106 meters.

The diversion route for this closure is as follows; Colwell Road, Hill Lane, Hallrtts Shute, Bridge Road, River Road, Tennyson Road, Bouldnor Road, Thorley Road, Willingham Lane, Newport Road and Afton Road in both directions.

Due to the currently planned road closure of Colwell Road, Heathfield Road has had its 6ft 6in width restriction revoked between its junction with Colwell Road to its junction with Silcombe Lane.

Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.

The emergency closure & the revocation of the 6ft 6in width restriction was put in place from 09:00 4th October 2019 and is expected to last a maximum period of 21 days, or until works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

Southern Vectis buses are also on diversion as a result of the closure.

Route 7 diverting from Hooke Hill, straight across the roundabout to Stroud Road, right into Camp Road, right into Queens Road, right into Brookside Road, to resume normal route.

Route 12 diverting from Victoria Road left into Camp Road, right into Queens Road, right into Brookside Road, to resume normal route. Operate in both directions.

UPDATE @ 18:00 – School Green Road has now reopened to traffic, buses will resume normal line of route.

Note the planned road closure of Colwell Road remains in place.

Road between Pump Mews and Hook Hill roundabout had traffic lights on it last night – it was not closed.
