The newly-elected Club Captain, Lady Captain and Seniors Captain were welcomed into office in the traditional manner at Freshwater Bay Golf Club’s annual Captain’s Drive-In, with over £340 raised for the West Wight FYT Bus – the Captain’s Charity for 2022.
Some fantastic golf was played in the 10-hole stableford competition in the morning with Joan Martin coming 1st on countback, John Wisker coming 2nd on countback and Matthew Sommerfield coming 3rd on countback – all with 22 points.
The’ Nearest the Pin’ on the 14th was Matthew Sommerfield.
The winners of the ‘nearest peg’ competition were Chris Tansley, Sue Owen and Shirley Miles, who all correctly guessed where the Captain’s drive would land.
A spokesperson for the club has said:
“We are looking forward to another great year of golf ahead, the club has a fully packed fixtures diary for 2022 and we can’t wait to get back to regular competitions and social events for members!”
