The Isle of Wight Council is offering free off-street parking in all its long-stay car parks to support Small Business Saturday (3rd December).
All long stay car parks run by the Council will be free of charge between 12:00 and 18:00 this coming Saturday, which it is hoped will help to promote the important role small businesses play in our towns and the Island economy.

In addition, car parks in Ventnor (enforced by the Isle of Wight Council on behalf of Ventnor Town Council) at Shore Road, Market Street, Pound Lane and Dudley Road will be free from 12:00 to 18:00. Pier Square car park in Yarmouth (enforced by the Isle of Wight Council on behalf of Yarmouth Harbour Commission) will also be free during the same period.
Cabinet lead for Highways PFI, Transport and Infrastructure, Councillor Phil Jordan, says:
“We’re very pleased to offer this helping hand to both businesses and shoppers in the run up to Christmas so that people can enjoy their visits to our towns for no additional costs of parking.
“In the past it has been very successful, and we encourage residents and visitors to take advantage of the generous offer once again this year”
Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities. The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
Should be every Saturday year round shouldn’t it ? That would be a real help…

How about a discounted parking permit all year round for small business owners and employees? Free’s up any off street parking for public.
