East Cowes Vics have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of experienced striker Jake Scrimshaw, subject to league approval.
The Isle of Wight-born forward, who attended Ryde Academy, began his career at AFC Bournemouth before going on to feature in the Football League, National League and Southern League. Over the course of his career, he has made 150 senior appearances, scoring 34 goals for clubs including Newport County, Walsall, Scunthorpe Town, Yeovil Town, Eastleigh, Weymouth, Gosport Borough and Poole Town.
A natural finisher, Scrimshaw represented the Isle of Wight at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey, where he netted 7 goals in just 5 appearances to finish as the tournament’s top scorer.

East Cowes Vics currently sit 18th in the Wessex League Premier Division and will be hoping Scrimshaw’s arrival provides a boost ahead of this evening’s home fixture against Brockenhurst, which kicks off at 19:15.
Newport IW are also in action this evening, taking on United Services Portsmouth at the Zilch Waste Stadium with kick off at 20:00. A win could see the County Town club reach the Wessex Division 1 playoff places for the first time this season.
Followed his career from the start as he was an isle of wighter, and I always thought Jake had a bright future and that he would be a Premier League player one day. Not sure what happened!
