Specialist scenes of crime investigators have descended on a home in Ventnor as part of an ongoing investigation following an incident that saw paramedics called to the property earlier today (Monday).
It was around 10:00 this morning that the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service arrived at Chestnut Close in Upper Ventnor, where it is understood a woman was taken ill at a residential address.
Island Echo is told that an ambulance departed on blues and twos soon after, but then Police arrived at the scene – where they have remained all day.
Detectives from Newport CID arrived at around lunchtime with response and patrol officers remaining in place until forensic investigators arrived from the mainland at just before 17:30.
Now, photographs and other evidence is being collected from both inside and outside the terraced home.
Door to door enquiries have been taking place with locals asked if they heard any disturbance at all at around midnight.
Hampshire & Isle of Constabulary is yet to issue a statement, with further information not expected until Tuesday morning.
UPDATE TUESDAY – Police have confirmed that they are investigating the unexplained death of a 57-year-old woman. Upper Ventnor should be called Upper Preston Close, or Upper Slade Road…nasty areas full of nasty people…
What an idiot, Don’t tar us all with the same brush.
That is a ridiculous statement and a very narrow minded attitude. Well done
What like you
What a stupid statement. This particular corner of Upper Ventnor is actually very nice with a few young families and some elderly residents. Perhaps wait until you have some facts before making stupid comments while hiding behind your keyboard.
But also some really horrible people. Like the BBC, be unbiased.
Back under your bridge troll.
L bozo go back to bed grandpa
Steady on! That’s a bit harsh. You cant say that about everyone. My daughter lived in Pan for a while until a house more suitable became available. Not all are the usual sorts!
Where do u live probably worse than Upper Ventnor by the sounds of it poor sour soul u are probably got no brains either
Good and bad every where I know some lovely people in Upper Ventnor. Yes there are some bad people but should not class all
Hope the true facts to this unfortunate incident are soon known for everyone’s sake.
Typical island echo comments desend into arguing about post codes no one show any respect for the poor old lady small island small minds get a grip and show some respect the lady she has a friends and a family may she rest in peace .
This is should not be a platform to swing verbal abuse at each other but that’s what it desends into on most occasions get a grip of your self’s u got nothing nice to say don’t use your keyboard go say it in public shamless cowards grow a spine
