The Folly Inn on the outskirts of East Cowes is due to reopen next Monday (14th November) following an extensive refurbishment that has totally transformed the well-known Island pub.
Whilst maintaining the traditional character and heritage features of the building, the Folly Inn’s interior has been completely revitalised with a variety of new fixtures and fittings, such as an indoor/outdoor fireplace, as well as bi-fold doors along 2 elevations, offering diners beautiful views over the water.
New furniture has also been installed to create a comfy and cosy environment for guests.
Externally, the main garden area has been reconfigured to add additional covers, including a new pergola and feature fireplace. Furthermore, a new outdoor kitchen and bar in the garden area will open in Spring.
Popular with sailors both on the island and across the south coast, the Folly Inn boasts its very own jetty connected to the site, which has also been restored. These renovations include the installation of new shower facilities for boat users, while the pub itself is easily accessible by boat and water taxi.
Saoirse Doolan, General Manager of The Folly Inn, said:
“The renovation has completely transformed the site, with major upgrades both inside and out.
“The pub has always been popular with local islanders, tourists and sailors, so we can’t wait to welcome customers, both new and old, back through our doors to enjoy our new and improved offering.”

What about the staff, last time we visited there we could see into kitchen and they were throwing roast potatoes at each other ,not very professional !
Isle of Wight schooling for you
Be even better if the road down was improved.
Ooh you beat
me to that one , lol .
Wouldn’t drive down that Rd ever again , until it’s repaired .
Good luck Folly Inn !
Hope the hygiene has improved no dirty feet on tables clean glasses and kitchen .
Also teach the staff some manners
I think the road leading down to the Folly will keep most customers away. I am sure though it will get more than The Breeze’s one star hygiene rating.
When they sort the access road out I will go. Till then……….
Stopped going there a long time ago. Poor service, food wasn’t very nice and took forever to arrive. So unless they have improved both, I won’t bother.
Blimey!! Who owns that and has a million quid to spare for refurbishment.Love to know.
Greene King group
“One million dollars….”
Waste of money
Went years ago poor service, not been back since.
Also I do not own a Tank, the road going into the Folly looks like It
was blitzed overnight and no one’s been to clear the debris.
I’m looking forward to the reopening , I’ve always found it to be great . As to the road , it’s a lot better than the road that leads to my home
