Thick fog on the Solent has forced the suspension of Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service to and from the Isle of Wight this morning (Tuesday).
Low visibility means that the cross-Solent operator is unable to manoeuvre in and around Cowes Harbour, resulting in a total suspension of service between East Cowes and Southampton.
Red Falcon is currently holding off at the entrance to the harbour, unable to dock at the East Cowes terminal.
It is thought that the hi-speed Red Jet service is likely to also be suspended – although operations have not yet begun for the day.
Those travelling with Red Funnel should anticipate significant disruption throughout the morning.
UPDATE @ 06:38 – Red Funnel has confirmed that it’s vehicle ferry service has now resumed and is running to timetable.
However, the operator is advising of 15 minute delays on its Red Jet service due to the reduced visibility.
