An emergency road closure has been put in place on Morton Common between Brading and Sandown this evening (Sunday) due to bad flooding.
Torrential downpours over the past few days, as well as high river levels, have resulted in an accumulated amount of flood water on the main stretch of road.
Motorists have struggled to pass through the flood today. Now, Island Roads have closed the road in both directions.
Traffic should divert via Yaverland, or Arreton.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 08:30 – Morton Common has now re-opened in both directions.

Imagine the water run off in Smallbrook when all the massive building happens in Ryde. One can be assured the developers and the council happy to give permission will NOT be leaving anywhere near the at risk areas, or near the grid locked areas that they create.
will NOT be leaving anywhere near the at risk areas, or near the grid locked areas that they create.
Do you mean NOT be LEAVING the area – because surely they WOULD be leaving?
or
They would not be LIVING in the area?
I am surprised no one hasn’t called for fix link
Keep it flooded and get another successful chain ferry to bridge the gap
