The Environment Agency have issued a flood alert for the Eastern Yar and a flood warning for Alverstone.
Levels in the Eastern Yar rose following yesterday’s rain with some flood plain inundation in the middle and lower reaches. The river has receded but it will probably not reach its previous base flow before the next rainfall, due for this evening and throughout tomorrow.
The risk of property flooding although low will change tomorrow (Tuesday) as the river quickly responds to the rain. Flooding to Morton Common is also possible, which may result in road closures.
Horringford, Langbridge and Alverstone as well as Golf Links Road and Riverside Caravan Park are all at risk of flooding.
Bembridge Sluices remain on their maximum opening during the low tide period but the neap tide limits the discharge from the Brading Marshes.
