Firefighters from Newport and Shanklin are working to free a horse that has become trapped behind a pillar in its stable near Arreton this morning (Wednesday). It’s understood that the animal’s legs have become trapped, leaving the horse unable to move. Crews are currently working closely with the horse’s owner and a local vet to safely free the animal. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the situation shortly after 11:00, with resources mobilised to the Burnt House Lane area. UPDATE @ 14:03 – The horse has been successfully rescued from its predictament after being sedated. The horse, which is said to be fit and well, has been left in the care of the vet and its owner.
