UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a large fire on a farm in Rookley tonight (Wednesday).
Several appliances from across the Island are on scene and en-route to the incident off the main Godshill to Rookley road.
The alarm was raised at around 20:15.
UPDATE @ 21:10 – A number of fire crews are now in attendance at Pagham Farm including 2 appliances from Newport, 1 from Shanklin and water bowsers from Ventnor and Freshwater.
Firefighters are continuing to dowse the blaze, which has sent plumes of smoke into the night sky.
It remains unclear at this time if any livestock has been involved in the incident.
Engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are working with the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
UPDATE @ 22:03 – The fire has been brought under control less than 2 hours after crews were mobilised.
Island Echo understands a blown halogen bulb may be to blame for igniting straw within the barn.
The incident is winding down, but crews are expected to remain on scene for sometime yet checking for hotspots.
No one has been injured.
