UPDATED: Firefighters are this afternoon (Friday) tackling a reported undergrowth fire at Parkhurst Forest, Newport.
Two appliances from Newport and the water carrier from Freshwater were alerted to the incident at just gone 16:00.
It is understood part of the undergrowth has caught fire on the Forest Road side of the Forestry Commission owned site.
UPDATE @ 16:23 – The small blaze has been successfully extinguished by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire crews have now returned to station.
