UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at HMP Isle of Wight this afternoon (Thursday).
At least 2 appliances are on scene at the Albany site having been alerted at just before 12:10.
It is currently unclear as to what has sparked the call out, but it is known an alarm has activated.
Yesterday (Wednesday) emergency services were involved in a training exercise at the Newport prison. A second exercise will be taking place on 20th September.
UPDATE @ 13:05 – On this occasion no fire has been located at the prison.
The call out has been blamed on dust getting into the fire alarm system.
Crews have now stood down from the incident and have returned to station.
