UPDATED: Firefighters are this evening (Friday) working to help free an animal that has become stuck on a farm.
Three appliances and the Incident Support Unit from Newport Fire Station are currently in attendance on Alverstone Road near Apse Heath.
Island Echo understand a cow has become stuck, requiring the specialist assistance and rescue equipment of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
UPDATE @ 21:20 – It was originally reported that the cow had become stuck in a ditch. Further information has confirmed that the cow became stuck in a milking parlour at Queen Bower Dairy.
Crews from Newport, Sandown and Shanklin were called to assist the animal, alongside a vet. The 4×4 Land Rover from Ryde Fire Station also attended the scene.
The animal was freed by firefighters in under an hour.
