UPDATED: Two pumping appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tonight (Thursday) attending an incident at a home in Wroxall.
Emergency crews including paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police were called to Wallis Close in the village earlier this evening at around 23:00 and are understood to be attending a terraced property at the end of the road.
Firefighters have donned breathing apparatus and have entered the building, however no details are currently available as to the severity of the fire.
UPDATE FRIDAY @ 07:15 – It has been confirmed this morning that Fire crews from Shanklin and Newport were called to the scene last night following reports of a kitchen fire.
The fire, which started in the oven, was out upon arrival of firefighters, however they assisted the homeowner before leaving the scene.
A 75-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
