Firefighters assisted in the rescue of a horse from a farm on the outskirts of Newport yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
Crews from Newport and Ryde were called to Park Farm off of the B3401 Calbourne Road near to the Blacksmith Arms pub at around 17:30 following reports a horse had got into difficulty.
Island Echo understand the horse had rolled and got its foot stuck in a metal gate and became exhausted in its own attempt to get free, prompting the 999 response, including the attendance of the Animal Rescue Unit from Newport Fire Station.
With the assistance of a local vet, fire crews managed to free the horse, who was uninjured in the incident.
