THREE pumping appliances alongside an aerial ladder from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have this evening (Monday) been called to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport after smoke was seen coming from a light fitting.
Two pumps from Newport, one from East Cowes and the aerial ladder appliance were called at 20:15 to the scene in the hospital’s café.
Thankfully, the fire was not serious and did not require an evacuation.
There have been no injuries and the hospital is operating as per normal.
Crews have since been stood down.
