Firefighters from Ryde have this morning (Wednesday) tackled a van fire in the town, resulting in the closure of a busy road.
Crews were called to the scene on St Thomas’ Street shortly before 10:30 after receiving reports that a light goods van was ablaze.
The white Vauxhall Astra van was nearing St Thomas’ Square when a fire broke out in the engine bay, for currently unknown reasons.
St Thomas Street remains closed this morning between Yelfs Road and St Thomas Square/Lind Street while recovery of the vehicle is arranged.
Fire crews left the scene at around 11:10.
