UPDATED: 3 fire appliances are attending an incident on St John’s Road in Ryde this evening (Monday).
The road has been closed in both directions as firefighters deal with the incident – a suspected fire at a residential property – at the corner of Warwick street.
The Incident Command Unit from Newport is also in attendance alongside Police, paramedics and an ambulance officer.
Emrgency services were alerted at just before 19:30.
UPDATE @ 19:55 – Although 3 crews remain in attendance, there is no visible signs of fire and no firefighting is taking place.
It is thought the call came through as ‘persons reported’, prompting a triple turnout from Ryde Fire Station.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service Service has stood down from the incident.
UPDATE @ 20:06 – It has been confirmed that the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to what was thought to be a house fire, but no fire has been identified.
Crews have been stood down from wearing breathing apparatus, but all 3 appliances remain on scene whilst final checks are carried out.
The road is expected to reopen shortly.
UPDATE @ 20:15 – Emergency services have now stood down from the incident, which appears to have been a false alarm.
