UPDATED: Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are this evening (Wednesday) in attendance at an incident in Fishbourne, where a boat appears to have partially sunk.
Crews from Ryde and Newport were called to the scene at Fishbourne Quay at around 20:30 and remain on the scene alongside HM Coastguard teams from Bembridge.
A boat, approximately 25ft in length, has partially sunk alongside a pontoon on Wootton Creek.
The fire service are using a pump to remove water from the hull of the stricken vessel in a bid to keep it afloat.
UPDATE @ 21:48 – One fire appliance has now left the scene off of Ashlake Copse Road.
UPDATE @ 22:23 – Coastguard officers are this evening attempting to contact the owner of the vessel or Fishbourne Quay to determine how much fuel is on board, amid fears the sunken boat may become a pollution risk.
Anyone who has contact details for either owner should contact Solent Coastguard.
