FEMALE PRISON OFFICER JAILED OVER ‘RISKY’ SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH DOUBLE KILLER

Published:

32-year-old Lauren McIntyre, a former prison officer at HMP Isle of Wight, has been jailed for 3 years following a sexually intimate relationship with a convicted murderer behind the walls of Albany prison.

McIntyre, a ‘devoted’ mum-of-3, will tonight spend her first night behind bars after being convicted of offences relating to misconduct in a public office. She previously admitted 4 counts of being a holder of a public office and wilfully neglecting to perform her duty/wilfully misconducting herself.

As previously reported by Island Echo, McIntyre, of St John’s Wood Road in Ryde, had a sexual relationship with Andrew Roberts, who was convicted in 2003 of killing his own daughter and his girlfriend. Although sexual intercourse did not take place, the relationship involved touching – an activity which, by McIntyre’s own acknowledgment, was ‘f***ing risky’.

As well as having sexual relations with a prisoner, the local mum is said to have failed to report her knowledge that Roberts was in possession of a mobile phone and provided him with her personal mobile phone number. Furthermore, she communicated with the killer via mobile phone, exchanging texts, and even supplied him with a copy of her photograph.

McIntyre also attempted to facilitate the transfer of money from the prisoner into her bank account. It is also reported that she sanctioned the beating, by Roberts, of fellow Prison Officer Samuel Laidler. Lauren is also alleged to have provided Roberts with Laidler’s personal mobile number and that she took no steps to warn the Prison Officer or the prison authorities of the impending beating.

Lauren McIntyre is a keen runner and former member of Ryde Harriers.

McIntyre was sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court earlier today by Judge Roger Hetherington. She will serve half of her 3-year sentence behind bars and the other half on licence.

Andrew Roberts was sentenced to 2 life sentences after he murdered his girlfriend and their 8-month-old daughter in Wales back in 2003.

Wasn’t that ‘devoted’ of a mother or she wouldn’t risk it all for a fumble. Sentence too light. Knew the job & knew the rules.

I agree with the comments, also can’t help but think some of the charges brought against her could apply in another large building?

The prisoner concerned is there for murdering his partner and her baby daughter, after she tried to end the relationship due to his obsessive jealousy. I’d say he’s likely a psychopath, and as such this crime should never have been allowed to occur. He is dangerous, he should not be let out, ever. The failure here is that two or more people should always be present around this prisoner. Manipulative and dangerous. As a prison officer, she’s been failed by the management. No she should not have allowed herself to become involved but it’s easy to see how. Throw the key away for him.

don’t make excuses for her failings – she could easily have documented and reported her findings in his conduct towards her to management and asked that she be accompanied in any dealings with him – you know, she could also have simply said “no, i am not getting involved with you, as you are convict number xxxxxx and will never be anything more than that to me”

She will be very very scared indeed – most prisoners love to have an ex screw in their midst. Good.

I actually feel quite sorry for this girl, it seems to me she was preyed on by this awful prisoner and maybe she was vulnerable at the time.He was there at the right time! she obviously was a good character before this, and became a victim. now she has ruined her life. i think a pedophile gets less for their disgusting crimes, this girl was made some stupid decisions because she became a victim to a psychopathic murderer.
i hope her children don’t feel the consequences of this.

So if a guy was to do this with a female killer, would his sentence be lower then hers? yes No, it’d be like idk, say around 6-7 years, maybe more. People want everyone to treat each other gender nicely? Yeah that WON’T happen until everyone who does some bad stuff get the SAME sentences (unless it’s rape for BOTH genders or killing a kid then throw the key away)
