In torrential rain and wind the race started fast with almost constant attacking for the first half an hour.  After rejoining the race after a puncture on the second lap, Matt managed to get in a few breakaway attempts which were unfortunately brought back by the dominate team Sigma Sport – IG Markets who were controlling the race.

With around 10 laps to go a group of 15 went clear of the front of the now much reduced peleton.  Matt bridged across to this group with around 5 laps to go.  Almost immediately a group of three went clear containing two members of Sigma Sport.  Tibbutt set off in solo pursuit and stayed around 20 seconds clear of the peleton and just behind the group of three for the last 5 miles of the race.  With around 200 metres to go he was unfortunately swept up by the fast finishing peleton, exausted from his efforts Tibbutt’s didnt contest the sprint and finshed at the back of the peleton.
