Hillside in Ventnor is to cease trading and, with the new owner not taking on the business, the boutique accommodation will sell a vast inventory of furniture, sculptures and art.
Gert Bach, who has been running Hillside for in excess of 15 years, has sold the land and buildings and is leaving to ‘pursue new ventures’.
The award-winning 17-bed guesthouse was listed with Spence Willard for £1.95million with an option to purchase the business as a going concern but it is understood that this has not been taken up.
Similarly, ‘high calibre’ furniture and the art collection were potentially available ‘by separate negotiation’ but it has now been announced that ‘everything has to go’.
Open days will be held between 12:00 and 15:00 over the next 2 weekends (October 7th-8th and 14th – 15th October) for any interested buyers before Hillside ceases trading on 20th October.
A statement on the Hillside website said:
“A big thanks and humble gratefulness goes to the many guests and returning visitors, craftsmen, suppliers and not least team members.”

He certainly loved himself and gave the impression about being the big I am. Wishful thinking 1.95m. Still like his ego.. inflated.
