UPDATED: Culver Down has been closed to members of the public by Police due to an ongoing incident involving HM Coastguard.
Island Echo understands a distressed individual has taken position on the edge of the cliff, prompting an emergency response to the scene.
Police were alerted to the ongoing situation at around 23:00 – almost 3 hours ago.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are on scene alongside local Police, who are speaking with the person concerned.
A police van has blocked vehicular access to Culver Down.
UPDATE – The individual has been successfully talked down by Police negotiators, bringing about a positive ending to the incident.
