UPDATED: Emergency services are this morning (Thursday) attending a road traffic collision in Brading.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Morton Common at around 09:35 following reports that a vehicle had collided with a tree.
A grey Kia has left the carriageway and has crashed into trees lining the road. One male is being attended to by paramedics. He is thought to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel.
Fire crews from Shanklin and Ryde were sent to the incident, however it is not believed the roof of the vehicle was removed. Firefighters have now left the scene.
The road has been closed in both directions with traffic very heavy in the Yarbridge, Marshcombe Shute and Perowne Way areas. Motorists are advised to avoid if at all possible.
UPDATE @ 10:35 – Morton Common has reopened is both directions.
The gentleman involved in the collision has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
