The main road connecting Carisbrooke to Chillerton has been closed for emergency roadworks this morning (Wednesday).
Island Roads have shut the carriageway in both directions between Froglands Lane and Sandy Lane for a distance of approximately 198 metres.
The closure is to facilitate ironwork repairs.
The diversion route is Whitecombe Road, Whitepit Lane, Shide Road, Blackwater Road, Blackwater Hollow and Sandy Lane.
It is unknown when the road will re-open.
